Weekend Schedule

Parent & Family Weekend 2018 Schedule

(October 26-28)

Parent & Family Weekend is a time for families to visit their students and get a small glimpse into their new lives as Minnesota Gophers. Over the course of the weekend, we have a handful of fun activities planned for you and your students to participate in. Many families choose to sign up for several events hosted by the Parent & Family Program, however it is not required of any individual to sign up for any or all events this weekend. Below is a generalized schedule of the weekend activities available to all registered families!

As you consider travel plans, feel free to travel when it makes the most sense for you and your family. If you plan to attend the Gopher Football game on Friday evening, you will want to plan to arrive by mid-afternoon on Friday. Many families use Sunday as a travel home day. While we do have programming on Sunday, it is minimal so as to accommodate families who need to travel.

RecWell

Sunday Morning At The Rec: Get active with your student and attend a class at the Rec! The RecWell is offerring three class options to registered families. These classes include yoga flow, bouldering, and crate stacking! Check out the descriptions below for some more details of each class.

Yoga Flow:  Connect mind and body through Yoga Flow. This class is great for beginners and those seeking the mental benefits of yoga. All fitness levels are welcome.

Bouldering:  Bouldering is a discipline of climbing that involves climbing short walls, generally below 15 feet, using foam crashpads on the floor instead of ropes for safety. This type of climbing is very accessible because there is no specific equipment or technical skills needed to participate. Additionally, bouldering is a great way to develop climbing technique and fitness.

Crate stacking:  Crate stacking involves building a tower of milk crates while standing on them. The goal is to stack as many crates as possible without tipping. As the tower gets taller it gets more unstable and requires balance and focus to keep from tipping over. When someone does fall, they are caught by a rope.

Sunday Send Off: As a final farewell, join us Sunday morning at the RecWell for a treat and a chance to chat with other families one last time before you leave! Food will be first-come-first-served...more details to come.
